HOME HOME ABOUT US MINISTRY

Father Moreau believed the unity among us was a powerful apostolic force, which could have a transforming effect upon the whole
world. Even in early nineteenth century France, Moreau envisioned the Holy Cross community as inclusive, collaborative,  ulticultural,     and international.

In Fr. Moreau’s mind, Holy Cross was to remain focused on the needs of the people. As those needs changed, the community would need to change or become obsolete. Our service to the people is also a service with the people. We are part of the communities and cultures in which we live and work.

Those early missionaries began almost immediately to receive new members from various ethnic backgrounds. It was a worthy beginning; and now members of Holy Cross are beginning to realize a need to re-emphasize internationality and multiculturality as an issue of our time. We have a growing number of new members in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

The Brothers of Holy Cross, Midwest Province, is a society of lay religious men within the Congregation of Holy Cross.s

We take vows of poverty, celibacy and obedience as a way of giving ourselves more creatively and intimately to the mission of our Savior Jesus Christ, His Body - the Church, and the needs of the world.

We live in community as a visible witness to the commandments, which Jesus gives us to love one another. Community enables us, through prayer, personal support and finances to be accountable in our lives and mission.

The Congregation of Holy Cross identifies its concern for justice and peace in the world and the need of people to find ways to live an integrated life of faith and action. As Brothers of Holy Cross, we choose to respond to this concern through ministries which educate and sensitize persons to the need of the world for justice and peace.

We seek the Reign of God among all peoples.
