Liguori (Clarence) was born in Cincinnati, OH and joined the Holy Cross Brothers in Watertown, WI in 1928. After completing his studies ant Notre Dame in 1933, he spent four years teaching
in Indianapolis, IN. Watertown, WI and Chicago, IL. He was then assigned to the mission in East
Bengal (Bangladesh) where he taught for 17 years at St. Gregory's in Dacca and Holy Cross
High School in Bandura. He returned to the U.S. in 1955 and taught at Holy Cross High
School in Flushing, NY and then at St. Edward High School in Lakewood, OH for three years.
He joined the faculty at Cathedral High School in Indianapolis, IN and then Archbishop Hoban High School in
Akron, OH. He returned to St. Edward High in Lakewood for 7 years and then taught for 6 years
at Holy Trinity High School in Chicago. He retired from teaching in 1977 and did pastoral care work
at Chicago's Nazareth Hospital. He retired at Columba Hall in 1990. Liguori was a precise
and demanding teacher. His years in Bangladesh formed the generous, self-motivated,
patient, and determined man. He participated in the charismatic prayer movement as one
of the creative thinkers in the post-Vatican II theology. |
