Brother Maynard (Raymond) Rabidoux, C.S.C.

born: April 29, 1914

died: September 18, 2001

Brother Maynard (Raymond) Rabidoux, C.S.C.

Maynard was born in Bay City, Michigan, attended schools there and worked for a wholesale grocery and at Chevrolet Motors before entering Holy Cross at Watertown, WI, in 1938. He studied at the University of Notre Dame. Since he was a meticulous specialist in commercial and clerical tasks, he was assigned to the staff of the Notre Dame Bookstore for 3 years. He then worked in the auditor's office at the University for 3 years and for 2 years he was on the staff of the provincial treasurer's office. In 1948 he became a staff member at Gibault School in Terre Haute, IN, and served there for 18 years. From 1966-74 he worked in the treasurer's office at Gilmour Academy in Gates Mills, OH. For the next 15 years, he was on the faculty and staff of Catholic Central High School in Monroe, MI. He then served on the staff of Holy Cross High in River Grove, Illinois for 10 years until he retired at Columbia Hall in 1969. Whether it was in his prayerful living and fulfilling his duties wherever he was employed, Maynard approached everything with scrupulous fidelity and intensity. His good humor and cheerful spirit offset his inclination to preserve a conservative observance of his way of life in Holy Cross.
